The idea to create a different kind of word search book came to me a few years ago, during a 15-hour flight to New Zealand. I was looking for something to help me relax and ease the anxiety of flying for that long.
I grabbed a word search book at the airport, and that’s when I realized how little these books had evolved. The neon covers, the random word lists... everything felt loud, chaotic. There was no real intention behind it.
And yet, I’ve always loved the act of searching for words. The way it pulls you into focus, grounds you, quiets the mind. There’s something almost meditative about it. I realized I loved the concept of word searches, but not the experience.
As a word search lover and beauty seeker, I found myself yearning for something different in this space. Word searches had always been something to kill time, but never something to savour or approach like a ritual. I wanted it to be more than just a waiting room activity. I wanted it to become a wellness ritual.
So I set out to reimagine it. To take this simple, powerful practice and give it the care, beauty, and meaning it deserves. I made the book I couldn’t find anywhere.
That’s how Serein was born. A word search book designed to bring quiet beauty, stillness, and gentle joy into your everyday life.
The words you’ll search for in the book are drawn from thoughtful quotes and affirmations. Sometimes, just a few well-chosen words can shift something inside us. A line we didn’t know we needed. A reminder that grounds us, softens us, or helps us face what’s ahead with a little more clarity and light.
Doing a word search with my morning coffee has become one of my favourite wellness rituals. It helps me start the day feeling grounded and clear, with powerful words to carry me through whatever comes next.

Why the name "Serein"?
Serein (n.): The fine, light rain that falls from a clear sky at sunset or in the early hours of night; evening serenity.
Serein is a French word that evokes a calm, peaceful state, often used to describe a tranquil atmosphere. I chose this name because it captures the heart of what this brand is about: a celebration of stillness, gentle rituals, and quiet beauty.
At Serein, we believe in the power of everyday rituals. Our mission is to give you the tools and space for cultivating meaningful, mindful practices — ones that bring you back to that gentle state of mind, and to that feeling of a “fine, light rain that falls from a clear sky at sunset”.
